When you set out to buy a child seat, you need to find a good retailer, perhaps by word of mouth. A good retailer will lead you safely through the many facts you need to know before buying.
Many good child seat retailers want to make sure that customers get the right advice when buying car seats.
That's why they have signed up to our Good Egg Charter - designed to give you more confidence in the advice and service you receive.
Look out for the "Good Egg" signs - they'll tell you that you've come to the right place.

Get the right answers to these questions:
Is this the right seat for my child?
The adviser should check that the seat is suitable for your child's weight and height.
Is the adviser well trained to help me?
Ask to see evidence, e.g. a certificate, to show they have been properly trained.
Is the seat of the correct standard?
The adviser should point out the official standard mark (ECE R44.04).
Are fitting instructions easily understood?
The adviser should go over them with you.
Is it a problem if my car has a active front airbag?
The adviser should explain that child restraints should not be fitted in a car with an active front airbag.
Which make should I buy?
Try not to compromise. If the shop recommends the most appropriate restraint, even though it's more expensive, ignore your bargain-hunting instinct.
